KENNEDY YANKO
EN Born 1988, St. Louis, Live and work at New York.
Kennedy Yanko uses a unique medium featuring found metal and paint skins to create evocative, abstract sculptures. To create these paint skins, Yanko pours industrial paint onto a covered ground, then peels it off. She then attaches the skin to the metal armatures she has welded, torched, and bent. A piece such as Agate (2019) has an anthropomorphic quality, which Yanko says she uses to address “how human perception and societal expectations are often in conflict with each other.”
